Trustee — Membership Manager

Behind every great Scout Group is someone keeping the records straight. As our Membership Manager (a Trustee role), you’d look after our membership data — making sure it’s accurate, complete and kept safe and private — and you’d be a backup pair of hands on the systems the Group relies on. At heart it’s about looking after people’s information properly, on their behalf.

What you’d be doing

• Being a backup administrator for our membership and online systems, so there’s always cover when it’s needed
• Keeping member records accurate, complete and up to date — and chasing up anything missing, blank or unclear
• Looking after people’s personal information: keeping it safe and private, and only holding what we actually need, for as long as we need it, and no longer
• Helping make sure any new tools the Group builds look after people’s data properly from the start
• Managing our waiting lists and working with section leaders to track places and movements between sections

Who it’s for

This is a non-uniformed governance role — you won’t be running weekly sessions. It suits someone organised and confident with data and systems, ideally with some experience of handling personal or sensitive information carefully. You’d bring a methodical eye and a genuine respect for people’s privacy.

Nearly all of it can be done remotely, from home, in your own time — there’s no need to be on-site for the day-to-day. And taking this on doesn’t shut the door on anything else — if you find you’d like to get more involved, including working directly with our young people, you’d be very welcome. It’s really up to you: the more you put in, the more you get out of Scouting.
