Scouts Team Member
Backwoods cooking, first proper hikes, big ideas and bigger personalities — help run our Scout Troop for 10½–14 year olds in Baillieston.
One weekly session, term-time
Ever watched an 11-year-old plan their first proper hike, or wolf down a meal they cooked over a fire they lit themselves? That’s a typical Scout night — and as our numbers grow, we need another adult to help make it happen.
You’d be joining an established, thriving Scout Troop of 10½–14 year olds with a regular routine, a supportive team around you and plenty of help to find your feet. You won’t be thrown in at the deep end — you’ll learn the ropes alongside experienced volunteers and grow into it at your own pace.
What you’d be doing
- Helping deliver the weekly Scout session alongside the rest of the team — games, challenges, skills and the occasional outdoor adventure
- Running small-group activities and lending a hand wherever it’s needed
- Being a reliable, encouraging adult for young people at a brilliant age to work with — full of energy, ideas and independence
Who it’s for
No Scouting experience needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to muck in. As a Team Member it’s a lower-commitment way to get involved than leading, and a perfect first step into volunteering with Scouts.
We meet at St Andrew’s Church hall on Bredisholm Road in Baillieston, in Glasgow’s East End. It’s a church hall, but Scouts is open to everyone — all faiths and none. We’re an inclusive group, not a religious one.
We provide all the training you need (including safeguarding and first aid) free of charge, full support from the wider team, and we cover your PVG/Disclosure check. You’ll never be doing it alone.
