Flexible — mostly remote, with the occasional event visit — volunteer
Every week we abseil, camp, build, cook over fires and generally have a brilliant time — and we’re rubbish at telling anyone. We’d love a hand to change that. This is a voluntary, unpaid role for someone who enjoys social media and wants to put that to good use for a friendly local Scout Group.
You’d look after our Facebook and Instagram — sharing photos and stories from sessions, camps and events, replying to comments and messages, and keeping things ticking over with a steady, warm voice. It’s mostly done remotely, in your own time, with the occasional pop-in to an event here in Baillieston to grab some photos or video yourself.
Why it matters
Showing off the adventure we offer does real work for the Group: it helps new young people and volunteers find us, keeps parents in the loop, and gives our members a buzz when they see themselves featured. A bit of consistent, friendly presence online genuinely helps us grow.
The kind of posts we love
Scouts has a brilliant house style and we’d love you to run with it:
- Lead with a surprising answer, not a question — “We saw Saturn last night… from a church car park in Baillieston” beats “Did you know we do astronomy?”
- Pair something amazing with something ordinary — abseiling and a Tuesday night; a survival shelter and a bin bag
- Dig for the real detail — keep asking “but why?” until “it was fun” becomes a proper, interesting story

What you’d be doing
- Running our Facebook and Instagram — posts, stories, comments and messages
- Turning photos and snippets from leaders into engaging, on-brand content
- A little light design where it helps — simple graphics, posters and event promos (Canva-level, nothing fancy)
- Occasionally dropping into a session or event to capture photos and video
Who it’s for
You don’t need to be a marketing professional — just someone who’s comfortable on social media, has a bit of an eye for a good photo or caption, and can give a little time regularly. If you enjoy the creative side and want to help without committing to a weekly section role, this is a great fit.
The important bits
This is unpaid and voluntary, done in whatever time you have — there’s no rota and no on-call. We’re based at St Andrew’s Church hall on Bredisholm Road in Baillieston — a church hall, but Scouts is open to everyone, all faiths and none; we’re an inclusive group, not a religious one. Because you’ll occasionally be around young people and will handle photos of our members, the usual Scouting safeguards apply: we’ll cover your PVG/Disclosure check, give you full training and support, and brief you on our simple photo-consent rules. A friendly team will always be behind you.
