Depute Group Lead Volunteer

Ready to step up? Help lead the whole of the 144th — every section, Beavers to Explorers — alongside our Group Lead Volunteer in Baillieston.

Ongoing senior role, flexible hours

This one’s for an experienced Scout volunteer ready to take the next step. As Depute Group Lead Volunteer, you’d work alongside the Group Lead Volunteer to help lead the whole Group — supporting our section teams and helping the 144th go from strength to strength.

What you’d be doing

  • Supporting the Group Lead Volunteer with the day-to-day running of the Group
  • Working across all of our sections — Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, with a brand-new Squirrel Drey on the way — and going where you’re needed most
  • Helping our section leaders and teams get what they need to succeed
  • Stepping in to deputise when needed, and helping drive the Group’s plans
  • Being part of the Group Leadership Team

Who it’s for

This is a senior leadership role best suited to someone with existing Scouting experience — a current or former leader looking to broaden their impact beyond a single section. You won’t be tied to one age group: one week you might be lending a hand with Beavers, the next supporting Scouts on the lead-up to a camp. You go where the need is greatest, and that variety is part of the appeal.

The hours are flexible, but it’s an ongoing commitment with real influence over the direction of the Group.

We’re based in Baillieston, in Glasgow’s East End, meeting at St Andrew’s Church hall on Bredisholm Road. (It’s a church hall, but Scouts is open to everyone — all faiths and none. We’re an inclusive group, not a religious one.)

Full support from the leadership team, and your PVG/Disclosure check is covered.
